Vitality Drive 3.0: Geared to reward your clients even more
On 1 June 2023, Discovery Insure launched Vitality Drive 3.0, the unique driver behaviour programme with some game-changing enhancements to its predecessor, Vitality Drive 2.0. Rewarding clients with more relevant rewards than ever before, for driving well, and a simpler, more transparent way to earn them, makes Vitality Drive 3.0 even more successful in its efforts to encourage better driving behaviour and help create safer roads for all.
Discovery Insure Chief Executive, Anton Ossip comments: “Since Vitality 2.0 introduced a loss aversion-based measurement of driving, clients have been earning approximately 34% more Vitality Drive points and 76% more Vitality Active rewards every month. Proven to be an effective way of improving driving behaviour, it made sense to keep this behavioural economics principle in the Vitality Drive 3.0 programme, which runs off the fact that clients prefer avoiding the loss of points over an equivalent gain.”
This next generation of Vitality Drive offers Discovery Insure clients features such as:
Increased fuel cash back directly proportionate to South Africa’s fuel prices
In its effort to better meet the demand for SA’s fuel hikes, clients can now earn up to R1,500 in fuel cash back every month by being more aware of their habits behind the wheel and consistently engaging with the programme. Clients will also be able to keep a finger on the pulse when it comes to how they are tracking their monthly cash back with updates received via SMS every time they fill up.
“In just 5 years, the Automobile Association of South Africa shows that South Africa’s fuel prices have more than doubled when comparing Petrol 95 at inland prices, from July 2017 to July 2022. This upward trend seems to be continuing, with the fuel price climbing 16.9% from January 2022 to today. To compensate for this meteoric rise in our country’s road travel expenses, the refreshed Vitality Drive 3.0 programme now almost doubles your cash back, because we feel it fair that if you’re spending more on filling up, you should be getting more cash back in your pocket,” shares Anton.
A new points structure that gives clients more control
With a far more transparent points structure, everything a client does when it comes to driving, will now directly affect the rewards they receive. More points and a simpler way to earn them means a higher Vitality Drive status level that unlocks more fuel cash back and additional rewards to enjoy. Using a more straightforward points system also enables clients to easily calculate their fuel cash back every month, set personal goals for themselves and move up through the statuses faster than ever before.
Coming soon - The ability to earn fuel cashback in Discovery’s reward currency that is more valuable than cash
Drivers will soon be able to switch between receiving their fuel spend back as cash, Discovery Miles (if they have a Discovery Bank account or a Discovery Account with no monthly fees) or they can choose to have their cash back doubled by depositing it into their Insure Funder Account. Being paid out in Discovery Miles is an optimal way of getting the most Discovery Miles in a single transaction, which can also be earned for their Gautrain spend and are versatile enough to be spent in a whole range of ways.
Discovery Miles are versatile enough to be spent in a whole range of ways such as shopping with them online and in-store at selected partners, spending them on Vitality Active Rewards on the Discovery app, spending them on travel or prepaid services like airtime, data bundles or electricity or monetising them by exchanging them for cash which is paid straight into your Discovery Bank account. Plus, on Miles Ð-Day, you can get between 10% and 30% off when you spend your Discovery Miles at your favourite retail partners. So, watch this space!
Digital enhancements for added convenience
We live in a digital world where seamless user experience makes for better client experiences. Vitality Drive 3.0 is fully on board the digital train with its enhanced, user-friendly app-facilitated digitalisation, that provides more efficiencies for clients, insurers, advisers and society as a whole. Clients can enjoy fast, efficient and tailored service which is now completely accessible at any time, on their mobile devices.
“The past year and a half has been a trying time for consumers, businesses and the insurance industry alike. We faced challenges like adverse trends in claims, extreme weather conditions, loadshedding and inflation that marked a significant rise in car parts costs and shipping delays, leading to a spike in vehicle repair costs alone. Against this backdrop, we refreshed a programme that now works even harder for clients by offering more ways to improve their driving behaviour, boost their Vitality Drive status and earn many more money-saving rewards. Vitality Drive 3.0 is a physical manifestation of Discovery Insure’s intention to remain steadfast in our promise to keep people safe on the roads as we enhance and protect their lives through the added value we share and by being there for them at a time when they need us most,” concludes Anton Ossip.
