Entries for the Discovery Health Journalism Awards 2014 are now open

Your healthcare reporting could win up to R75 000 Are you a health journalist proud of your work in helping to provide our citizens with reporting of high quality in healthcare? Discovery Health invites you to submit your work that has been published or broadcast between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014 for the Discovery Health Journalism Awards 2014. The Discovery Health Journalism Awards, which were established in 2008, aim to recognise the work of our country’s health journalists in educating South Africans about healthcare issues that affect South Africans as consumers of healthcare services. The awards recognise journalism of high quality. They encourage these journalists to aspire to a higher calibre of health reporting that will strengthen our country’s healthcare system and enable people to make well-informed healthcare decisions. The awards provide health journalists with an opportunity to showcase their best health reporting. The awards recognise the crucial role of these journalists in helping the public understand the level and quality of healthcare they receive and how decisions in the healthcare industry affect them. Through the awards, health journalists get to show how they provide accurate health information that helps the public to improve their healthcare knowledge and to save lives. Winners in each category will receive R25 000 in prize money. The Discovery Health Journalist of the Year and winners in multiple categories will receive a total of R75 000 in prize money.
