Press release -

Discovery Bank clients can now double their Discovery Miles discount to up to 40% off on Miles D-Day every month

JOHANNESBURG, 12 July 2021 – Discovery today announced Discovery Miles D-Day, an exciting new initiative from Discovery Bank and Vitality. For one day every month, qualifying Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money can get up to 40% off when spending their Discovery Miles in-store or onlineat over 40 Discovery Miles partners. Discovery Miles is Discovery's rewards currency, that is more valuable than cash. Clients can earn Discovery Miles in many ways but mostly by getting healthier, driving well, and spending responsibly.

Hylton Kallner, CEO of Discovery Bank, says, “Discovery Miles form a significant part of the rewards that Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money get for managing their money well. Over time, we have developed more ways for clients to earn this valuable rewards currency and we have grown the network of partners. By adding even greater value to Discovery Miles on one day every month, we are sharing more of the resulting financial value that clients create through their health, driving and money choices. As a shared-value bank, it is our aim to continually boost client value to provide more banking and financial benefits – Discovery Miles D-Day is one way of doing this.”

Discovery Bank and Vitality have partnered with world-class brands and retailers that clients already love and frequent. Discovery Miles are accepted at partners such as Cape Union Mart, Dis-Chem, iStore, Loot, NetFlorist, OneDayOnly, Sportsmans Warehouse, Takealot, Yuppiechef and many more.

With Discovery Bank and Vitality, Discovery Miles are more versatile – and with the additional discounts more valuable than cash. Vitality Money members already enjoy between 5% and 20% off when they spend their Discovery Miles at online and in-store partners. But now, Discovery Miles D-Day doubles their existing discount to up to 40% off, valid for a 24-hour window on the 15th of every month, starting 15 July 2021. A client’s saving is based on whether they’ve activated Vitality Health, Vitality Drive, and Vitality Money, and if they have a Discovery Bank Suite.

For example, on any given day an item priced at R250 at 20% off costs clients as little as 2 000 Discovery Miles (equal to R200). But on Discovery Miles D-Day, clients will double the great savings they already get to up to 40% off and get it for an additionally discounted 1 500 Discovery Miles (R150).

Vitality CEO, Dinesh Govender adds, “We are inspired daily by our Vitality members’ engagement in our behaviour-change programmes and their commitment to healthier living, driving well and responsible financial choices. We continually work to find innovative ways to reward these efforts and we are delighted to launch this exciting Miles D-Day.”

Vitality Health and Vitality Drive members can also enjoy the ability to spend Discovery Miles at in-store and online partners when they open a Discovery Bank account and activate Vitality Money.
