Get ready for the 702 Walk the Talk with parkrun!

With less than a month to go before the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk event, Discovery invites you to take part in the weekly parkruns hosted at various parkrun venues around Gauteng to help you combine fun and fitness in preparing for Walk the Talk. The Discovery 702 Walk the Talk is taking place on Sunday 27 July at the Marks Park Sports Ground.

“Vitality is proud to be associated with both parkrun South Africa and 702 Walk the Talk, and to support both initiatives in getting more South Africans to become more physically active and aware of their health as this is something that is core to Vitality,” says Dr Craig Nossel, Head of Discovery Vitality Wellness.

Regardless of your fitness level or age, putting on a pair of comfortable shoes and going for a walk takes you one step closer to better long-term health. Walking is therefore one of the most accessible, inexpensive forms of physical activity and the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk event helps us to highlight this message in Johannesburg,” Dr Nossel adds.

parkrun is a great platform for preparing yourself both mentally and physically for the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk event. These free weekly runs are 5km timed runs that are safe and easy to take part in, with numerous venues accessible to you to help you prepare for the 702 event. To prepare for Walk the Talk you can attend a parkrun and walk the 5km.  Worth noting is that parkrun is open to everyone including people who will not be taking part in the Discovery Walk the Talk.

To find out more about parkrun venues near you and to register for these runs, go to www.parkrun.co.za follow the instructions and print your barcode to present at the parkrun. If you’re a Vitality member, make sure you link your profile to your Discovery membership when you print your barcode. When you complete your run or walk you need to present your printed barcode in order to earn 500 Vitality points for completing a parkrun event.
