Discovery announces the activation of Vitality Active Rewards with Apple Watch for Vitality members in South Africa. The country becomes the first within the global Vitality Network to launch the eagerly anticipated benefit, which will be rolled out to other Vitality network companies in time.

Apple’s ground breaking health and fitness companion, Apple Watch, combined with Vitality Active Rewards is designed to help motivate and encourage Vitality members to get more active. Through the benefit, Vitality members will be able to fully fund their Apple Watch by meeting all of their weekly Vitality Active Rewards goals over 24 months.

Discovery Chief Executive Adrian Gore says, “We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Apple to enable people to earn their Apple Watch simply by being active.

“We have continued to invest in enhancing our behavioural insurance model to stay at the forefront of dynamic insurance. Vitality has evolved to combine personalised pathways and advances in technology to offer real-time rewards to help people become healthier.”

Vitality Active Rewards has been designed to work seamlessly with Apple Watch. Based on the personalised activity goal set by Discovery Vitality each week, a member’s Apple Watch measures their physical activity allowing them to earn Vitality fitness points towards achieving their Vitality Active Rewards goal. These goals can increase or decrease based on a person's goal history.

Will you add the Samsung smart watches to at some point?

I have received a apple watch through discovery vitality. When does the contract expire? Is it over 12 or 24 months? Also vitality hasn't thought the point system very well, as I do an amazingly vigorous class of water aerobics on a Monday and Wednesday, which level of exercise is high but due to apple watch not being waterproof, I only get 100 points for entering the gym. Also illness and holiday time off is not taken into consideration and we get penalized. Awaiting your reply.
