Vitality Health International partners with Acacia Health Insurance to launch innovative, healthy living reward-based insurance
Accra, Ghana, 10 July 2025 – Health insurance provider, Vitality Health International in partnership with leading in-market insurer Acacia Health Insurance, recently hosted an engaging roundtable discussion in Ghana, to highlight the transformative impact of wellness-driven health insurance. Discussions focused on how incentivising healthy behaviour can create a healthier, more productive workforce, support sustainable health insurance pricing models, and serve as a powerful force for social good.
The event introduced Vitality Health International’s Shared-value health insurance model and innovative new benefits tailored for employer groups in Ghana. These include flexible health insurance solutions, a Malaria Benefit, and the Vitality behaviour-change rewards programme. All of these are designed to deliver holistic health coverage and drive better wellness outcomes for both employers and their employees by rewarding individuals for healthy behaviours.
“What sets our health insurance apart is its focus on wellbeing, aiming to improve people’s health outcomes while enhancing and protecting their lives,” explains Emma Knox, CEO of Vitality Health International Africa. “We go beyond traditional cover by rewarding healthy habits and driving better health across Africa.”
Dr. Dan V. Armooh, Chief Executive of Acacia Group, added that “the collaboration marks an evolution from paying for illness to paying for wellness. Acacia Health Insurance’s national provider network would administer claims and on‑site wellness days, ensuring employers see the health data, feel the premium relief and watch absenteeism drop.”
A comprehensive new offering with innovative benefits
Vitality Health International offers five health insurance plans, with comprehensive cover across all benefits. Tailored to the unique needs of each market in which it operates, Vitality Health International’s comprehensive range of benefit plans include in-country Africa Roaming, and Worldwide (excluding USA) healthcare coverage structured according to each employer’s healthcare needs and sustainable healthcare insurance pricing models.
Daniel Larbi‑Tieku, Group CEO of Enterprise Group, of which Acacia is a member, called the launch “a natural extension of our 30‑year legacy of innovation” and predicted it would “raise the bar for corporate health cover in Ghana.”
Ghana faces a double burden of infectious disease and a growing wave of non‑communicable illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes. By encouraging regular screening and active lifestyles, Vitality Health International and Acacia Health Insurance position the new partnership as both a business solution and an innovative health solution in Ghana.
Vitality Health International’s Shared-value health insurance positively impacts health outcomes
Vitality Health International’s Shared-value model offers a dynamic behaviour-change programme that combines data analytics with rewards and incentives, which directly encourage people to make healthier choices. Employers are rewarded with a cashback of up to 10% for encouraging their employees to get healthy, and employees can earn exciting weekly rewards for achieving their health goals, or choose to donate towards a life-changing vaccine.
“Through this, model Vitality Health International is contributing towards a healthier society by making businesses and their employees healthier,” concludes Knox.
