Pravin Gordhan to address the Discovery Leadership Summit
7 November 2016 – Discovery today announced that South Africa’s Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, will be joining David Beckham and other world-class speakers at this year’s Discovery Leadership Summit. To be hosted by Discovery in Sandton, Johannesburg, on 14 November 2016, the Summit is a global thought-leadership event aimed at sharing intellectual capital to contribute to leadership in business, government and civil society.
Minister Gordhan is a former pharmacist by profession. He has a long-standing track record as an anti-apartheid activist. He has also played a pivotal role in South Africa’s Parliament between 1996- 1998. He was previously the Minister of Finance between 2009 and 2014 and Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2014 to 2015. Minister Gordhan is widely respected for his leadership of South Africa’s critical Finance ministry.
The theme for the 2016 Discovery Leadership Summit is Inspiring Minds. Our speakers are all leaders in their respective fields and have been invited to share their progressive and innovative approaches to modern-day challenges affecting society. Attendees can look forward to hearing from the likes of David Beckham, celebrated sportsman; Jack Welch, former GE CEO; Arianna Huffington, Founder of the Huffington Post; Niall Ferguson, Harvard historian and economist; Simon Kuper, Financial Times columnist and author; Duncan Clark, expert on the internet and entrepreneurship in China; and Adrian Gore, Discovery’s Founder and CEO.
