Discovery Health Journalism Awards introduces a brand new award!
The Discovery Foundation Nation-builder Award
Our brand new award category, the Discovery Foundation Nation-builder Award, aims to acknowledge the positive coverage of work done by healthcare professionals or organisations in the public healthcare sector. The testimonies of lives changed through the Discovery Foundation have reaffirmed that there is significant work being done in the public sector across the country. We believe that it is an important task of the media to unearth and publicise the many inspiring stories of hard work, dedication, perseverance and compassion by healthcare professionals in some of our most needy communities. By profiling the work done by unsung heroes under difficult conditions, journalists acknowledge and validate these role models of community service. For this reason, the Discovery Foundation Nation-builder Award seeks to honour exceptional health journalism that highlights uplifting stories in the public healthcare system.
Winners in each category will receive R25 000 in prize money. Winners in multiple categories and The Discovery Health Journalist of the Year and will receive a total of R75 000.
Enter now and join the ranks of Mia Malan, S’thembiso Hlongwane and Anna-Maria Lombard in being recognised as the best health journalist in South Africa! The closing date for all entries is 10 February 2014.
