  • Saray Khumalo’s Mount Everest climbing expedition cancelled

    Following talks between the Nepalese Minister of Tourism and various mountaineering bodies, this year’s Mount Everest expedition has been officially cancelled. Saray Khumalo and Sibusiso Vilane will be returning home after setting off on a journey to climb Mount Everest in an attempt to raise money for The Lunchbox Fund and the Nelson Mandela Bangle Foundation.

    Saray Khumalo, Discovery Vitality Divisional Manager, reached the Everest Base Camp in Khumbu, Nepal on Tuesday, 17 April. She will now start, from Saturday, 19 April her challenging 5 364m ascent up from base camp to the summit of Mount Everest with her climbing partner, Sibusiso Vilane, who is South Africa’s “chief mountaineer.”
